Don Nottingham
Straight No Chaser
Singer, Songwriter, Arranger, Producer and Attorney
Don Nottingham is a former attorney and a professional a cappella singer. Nottingham has worked as a trial attorney, where he distinguished himself with his dramatic and engaging courtroom style. However, in 2010, he made the decision to leave the law and rejoin his college a cappella group at Indiana University, Straight No Chaser. Two years prior to Nottingham rejoining, the group had reformed after a video of one of its college performances of “The 12 Days of Christmas” was seen by millions on YouTube, including the CEO of Atlantic Records, who signed the group to the label. Straight No Chaser has overcome the odds and became a viable international touring act, selling over 100,000 tickets annually and totaling over one million records sold. Nottingham’s guidance regarding the intricacies of the music business has made it possible for a band without radio airplay, original hits, or even instruments to be a full-time career for 10 musicians by efficiently exploiting all revenue streams available to musical acts.
