The legal landscape impacting the music business is continually shifting, moving forward in some regards, and backwards in others. This panel will examine important developments from the past year with respect to music and copyright, including the Songwriter Equity Act and other proposed legislation, cases involving sound recordings created before February 15, 1972, the DOJ consent decrees and fractional licensing, compulsory licenses under sections 114 and 115 of the copyright law, RMLC litigation and others.
