All the World's a Stage: Marketing to International Live Music Fans
The world is getting smaller and more connected, but music fan engagement across the globe in many ways remains distinctive. Fan discovery, consumption and spend allocations can vary and understanding these distinctions is important not just for brands and promoters looking to optimize sponsorship dollars, but for artist managers and labels looking to build their own brands. Join Helena Kosinski, VP Client Services at Nielsen Music for a presentation of international fan analytics, a look at how fans are discovering and spending on live music events in different markets, and how that consumer behavior compares to the North American market.

The Changing Face of China's Music Market
Over the past few years, China has witnessed a transformation in its music market and industry. Led by government efforts to legitimize the market, the growth of legal streaming service and changing consumer behavior, the music industry appears to be reaching that 'inflection point' as illustrated by IFPI's number. But the backbone of China's music market is still live music with the maturing of its festival scene, expanding touring circuit and early tech adoption from live streaming to VR. The session will examine some of the major trends shaping the industry’s transformation and prospects for its future.

Streaming in the Scandinavian Charts
The advent of streaming is transforming the process of record chart compilation. In Scandinavia, the early adoption of streaming is leading to a virtual dominance of the retail music market. This streaming dominance is making the capture of music sales through traditional channels (physical, download and mail order) an even greater importance than in the past in order to preserve balance in the charts. It is also essential to capture live sales data from independent retailers who lack in-house automation as well as data from the rapidly re-emerging vinyl market. This session will not only discuss the use of entirely automated systems in several countries to capture both electronic (streaming and download) sales data and actual physical sales, but also describes solutions in employed in the large UK market, as well as in Scandinavia, to ensure that the live sector is properly represented in the official charts.

The Untapped Market: The Hispanic Music Consumer
With millions of people online and with fast streaming opportunities, the Hispanic music listener is set to become one of the most engaging in the industry. In fact, the Hispanic consumer spends the most on digital music consumption versus the average user. The challenge is how to cater to this increasingly engaging group, without falling into predictable marketing tactics like simple English-to-Spanish translation? Moreover, there will be an average of 908,000 Hispanic millennials more every year from now until 2028, becoming one of the highest spending groups.

This presents an opportunity not only for the US market in terms of new business and advertising opportunities, but also for expansion. With recent technological advancements in music apps, recommendation engines, marketing and live entertainment technologies, it is now possible to reach more people for a fraction of the cost in the LatAm region.

We gather with marketing and music industry professionals and discuss the future of the Latin American music industry and its relation to technology, advertising, music discovery, monetization, music festivals and even politics.
