Kristen Ellis-Henderson is a founding member, guitarist and songwriter for the all-female Rock band Antigone Rising. The band’s 2006 debut album, “From the Ground Up" was the Starbucks Hear Music First label debut. Selling upwards of 10,000 copies a week for most of 2006, the band was catapulted into the spotlight with appearances on the Tonight Show, The Today Show, and in regular rotation on VH1 and CMT. Ellis-Henderson, along with her wife Sarah Kate, is also the author of a memoir, "Times Two: Two Women in Love and The Happy Family They Made" (Free Press/Simon & Schuster), and in 2013 appeared on the cover of Time Magazine’s famous ‘Gay Marriage Already Won’ issue. In 2013, she made Buzzfeed's Most Powerful LGBT Icons and Allies List alongside The Pope, Madonna, President Obama, Edie Windsor and Elton John.
